Bhaktapur Fall

Tragic End of Bhaktapur’s Glorious Sovereignty

Long prior, amid the rule of Lord Ranjit Malla, the individuals of Bhaktapur delighted in awesome success much appreciated to the endowments of their most powerful divinity, Goddess Taleju Bhawani. The thoughtfulness of the goddess guaranteed plenteous grain  harvests, driving riches and satisfaction among the masses. At that time, the state of Gorkha was a free country, but it was just a little town past the Kathmandu Valley.

The notorious King Prithvi Narayan

One day, a visitor from Gorkha going by the Bhaktapur royal residence overseen to take nourishment favored by Goddess Taleju. He took it back to Gorkha and gave it to his spouse. When Ruler Ranjit Malla found the robbery, he was crushed.

The favored nourishment had been taken by the Ruler of Gorkha, and Ranjit Malla might no longer commune with Goddess Taleju Bhawani. In his distress, he sobbed persistently until the goddess, along with Ekanta Kumari, showed up to him. They told him that it was worthless to grieve, as the nourishment had as of now been devoured by the Gorkha lord. In spite of this, Ranjit Malla begged them for an arrangement. Goddess Taleju educated him to put a dark shade between them, promising to banter with him once more. She too anticipated that his days of wonderfulness were over and that the Lord of Gorkha would inevitably overcome his kingdom.

The fall of Kathmandu Valley

During this period, the individuals of Kathmandu were celebrating their most stupendous celebration, Indrajatra. The Malla king’s position of authority was put exterior Hanuman Dhoka, where he would get favors from the Living Goddess Kumari. Seizing the opportunity, the Ruler of Gorkha, Prithivi Narayan Shah, propelled an assault on the city. The officers and citizens of Kathmandu were distracted with the merriments and inebriated, planning to drag the Kumari chariot. Prithivi Narayan Shah and his powers walked in and involved the position of authority without resistance.

The dazed individuals addressed what to do following. The champion announced, “Let the celebration proceed.” The Kumari at that point put her favoring check on the Gorkha king’s temple. The Malla ruler of Kathmandu fled to Patan, but Prithivi Narayan Shah before long assaulted Patan as well. The rulers of Kathmandu and Patan looked for asylum in Bhaktapur.

The refuge Kings

Prithvi Narayan Shah, out of regard for the ancient companionship between his father and Bhaktapur’s ruler, did not at first assault Bhaktapur. Instep, he sent a letter to Ruler Ranjit Malla, asking him to yield to the rulers of Kathmandu and Patan. Ranjit Malla, being respectable and honorable, was clashed almost selling out the displaced person rulers. In the meantime, the two outlaw rulers took the shield in Dattatreya Temple.

Ranjit Malla chose to counsel his individuals around the problem. The other day, he called for an open get-together at the royal residence. The individuals collectively chose not to yield Lords Jayaprakash and Tej Narasingh. Ranjit Malla, planning for a potential fight, educated the Lord of Gorkha of his choice. Irritated, Prithivi Narayan Shah dispatched his brother, Surpratap Shah, with an armed force to assault Bhaktapur.

The attack on Bhaktapur

The Gorkhali troops progressed by strolling over the housetops of the city’s houses, terminating weapons as they went. Bhaktapur, missing such weaponry, saw numerous courageous men and ladies putting up a brave but eventually worthless defense. Amid the assault, the rulers were locked in revere administrations at the regal royal residence. As they attempted to plan an arrangement, the Gorkhali powers rapidly overpowered them. A bullet struck Jayaprakash in the leg, and Tej Narasingh was captured.

The fight claimed the lives of numerous standard men, ladies, and children. As the Gorkhali troops neared the royal residence, the protecting watches surrendered. Interior, Ranjit Malla, profoundly devout, was still performing his puja. Realizing he was encompassed, he slipped exterior, looking for divine intercession. He experienced Betal, who cautioned him that his rule was finishing and gave him a sword for security. Ranjit Malla came to the royal residence door, where Prithivi Narayan Shah, imagining fellowship, incapacitated him. With that, the old kingdom of Bhaktapur formally fell to Prithivi Narayan Shah, checking the conclusion of its sway.
